Learning from my trial in freelance graphics.

I told my Dad I was interested in doing freelance graphics so I could save for a tablet and get an upgrade in Adobe.  Being the Father he is, he got me two jobs.  One with a coworker and one with a old friend of his.  This is where I made my mistake.  I only did a contract for the coworker.  I worked hard for both of them.  Halfway through when negotiating with coworker, I found out he expected me to do about a weeks worth of work for about a day worth of pay at my current job.  This included a Logo and an animated logo.  Needless to say negotiations fell through and there was no hard feelings when parting ways.  Now when working with my father's old friend is where I started to learn my lesson.  NO MATTER WHO IT IS ALWAYS CREATE A PAPER CONTRACT.   I messed up this is my fault.  We worked out a deal and I did the work and let him get a hold of the work before hand.  The money has never made it to my wallet.  I learned from my mistakes, but it has prevented a lot of things I was hoping to happen.  Creating a small company for my freelance, and hopefully having more freelance to show off.  Since there is no paper trial, this work can only be considered as a freebeie.  Sucks in a sense.  Learn from you mistakes and just keep on tanking through.  So I hope this helps those that read.

Also enjoy the process of the freebie logo.

This was all done with Illustrator.

Active Reflective Responding and Listening

So recently one of the thigns I worked on were these two videos.  These videos are aimed at helping individuals to be calmer and better in life and work. Now the only thing I did in these was record the audio.  Now to record I used a tascom dr-100 and a sony shotgun mic.  Sorry I don't remember which model we had. The video was shot with a Canon 5d Mark II. It was edited on an older version of Adobe CS4. Now the one issue we found is that we could not record the xlr on both channels and have one lower and one higher.  Still the tascom did a great job.  So please enjoy the videos we worked on.

The Count, Counting.

So recently a t shirt company had a contest to design a Sesame Street themed shirt.  I took this opportunity to use this a test for multiple things.  Find an idea, Use captivate for the first time and have my design actually accepted.  I succeeded on two of those.  I got the idea from a friend, while we were working a long weekend. I promised we would split the pot 50/50 if any money came from it.  I used Adobe Captivate for the first time and only messed up a little.   My design though was not accepted, it was considered adult themed for the contest.  I had a fun time with this design because it was just a good idea.  I also love using my wacom cintiq 12wx, which I highly recommend to anybody who likes the feel of really drawing.  It has a built in screen and once you get it set up it is very accurate.  I used Adobe Illustrator for this project.  I mostly use illustrator for the Blob Brush Tool.  It create as an outline stroke object, which allows for more control over the design.  So here are the results and feel free to ask questions. I also posted a speed up video to give you a good idea how illustrator works. I attached pictures of what I submitted so enjoy and I hope you get a good laugh.
